Repeating last year's event, the Audio Engineering Society (AES) has put together a fantastic conference program that runs in parallel with the NAMM show in Anaheim, CA. They have invited Townsend Labs to host two workshops at the 2020 AES Academy. In this presentation, Townsend Labs product expert Julian David gives an in-depth overview of past and current microphone modeling products. If you're wondering what virtual mics are and if there could be a modeling microphone in your future, this workshop has the answers for you.
Several manufacturers now offer modeling microphones, but understanding the distinctions between the different offerings is not always apparent. This workshop provides an overview of the various available systems and how they compare. A particular focus will be on how to use the Townsend Labs Sphere L22 mic modeling system to achieve great results quickly, solve common recording problems, and to develop new creative workflows that would be impossible with traditional microphone
