With the recently added support for AAX DSP and the addition of the SD-416 shotgun microphone model, our Sphere L22 Microphone Modeling System becomes an even more attractive solution for post-production professionals and Pro Tools HDX users. So we asked our friends at Production Expert to have another look at Sphere from an audio post perspective. Watch this video by Mike Thornton as he examines the Sphere L22 with the help of James Ivey and Dan Cooper:
The Sphere plug-in is the software component of the L22 Microphone Modeling System. The recent version 1.3 update of Sphere has added AAX DSP support for Avid Pro Tools HDX systems. Professional engineers within both the audio post and music production industries can now enjoy seamless integration of the Sphere microphone into their Avid Pro Tools HDX-centered workflow, and monitor the over 30 included microphone models with near-zero latency while recording.
Introducing the SD-416 model
It’s not only the unrivaled accuracy, rich feature set, and AAX DSP support that sets Townsend Labs Sphere L22 apart from other microphone modeling systems. It’s also the number of microphone models that are available to Sphere L22 owners. With the Sphere 1.4 release, ten new microphone models are available at no extra cost. As a result, Sphere L22 owners now have access to more than 30 stunning microphone models. Among these new microphone models is the SD-416 based on an industry-standard shotgun microphone. This microphone is commonly used in the studio for voice-over and ADR duties. It is the go-to mic for that big voice-over sound in Hollywood-produced movie trailers we’re all so familiar with.
