Sphere Meets LUNA: Live Q&A with Jacquire King

Universal Audio's LUNA Recording System is the exciting new player on the DAW field, and it's been making quite a buzz since its launch in April. With super-tight integration with Apollo and Arrow interfaces and advanced realtime monitoring, it's primed to be an excellent match for the Sphere L22. Our unique "Sphere meets LUNA" Live Q&A with Jacquire King brings both cutting-edge technologies together.

On July 10, we hosted a special live-streaming Q&A event with Grammy award-winning producer/engineer Jacquire King to talk about both LUNA and Sphere. Drew Mazurek, Universal Audio's Technical Marketing Specialist and early-adopter of Sphere, joined us for the inside scoop on YouTube. Watch the two-hour deep dive video now:

Evolving audio technology

Jacquire King has worked with seminal artists such as Kings of Leon, Norah Jones, Tom Waits, MuteMath, and James Bay. If Jacquire maintains one constant aesthetic in his work, it's blending traditional recording artistry with emerging tools and technology.

"Curiosity moves an art form forward, so I incorporate whatever gives the artist the freedom to create. I always want to be part of that evolution."

With this kind of philosophy and work ethic, it's no surprise that Jacquire got involved in LUNA's development process.

Taking flight with LUNA & Sphere

Jacquire has not only been one of LUNA's most prominent voices, but he also put the system to its first large-scale test. Tracking and mixing Cass McComb's "The Wine of Lebanon, " he made extensive use of LUNA's Unison technology, built-in tape and Neve emulations, and our Sphere technology to create larger-than-life sounds. This exclusive multi-track session captured at United Recording is the ideal starting point to explore LUNA, and it's available for download in the app. Jacquire talked about the project during our Live Q&A, and we asked him your questions in realtime
